Roof Repair at the Monastery of St. John the Monagrit

In the summer of 2025, during the wildfires, the land around the Monastery of St. John Monagritis in Monagri was burning on all four sides. The fire spread to the roof of the skete and caused serious damage: part of the wooden structures was destroyed, and the roofing material was rendered unusable. Fortunately, the fire was extinguished. The temple itself miraculously survived, despite the wooden ceilings and wooden decor inside, but the roof of the building needs repair. To ensure safety and preserve the monastic buildings, restoration work must be carried out as soon as possible.

According to the contractor's estimate, the cost of the work is as follows:

1. Roofing materials
- thick wooden beams;
- cross wooden beams;
- reinforcing boards;
- insulation materials (polystyrene and roofing felt);
- tiles.
Cost of materials: € 14,562

2. Preparatory and restoration works:
- cleaning the area from the aftermath of the fire;
- dismantling and replacing burned beams;
- installing scaffolding.
Cost of works: € 4,700

Total necessary expenses: € 19,262
